Description
Paragon Geological Survey Transit, model 5093A, made by Keuffel & Esser Co. (1952), New York and Hoboken. Also known as a high-post alidade. Standardized instrument for use by the U.S. Geological Survey. The alidade was for use in plane table work.Description: Metal and glass, 18" long x 3" wide x ca. 8-1/2" high (with striding level attached); yellow-tan color paint finish. Original hinged wood case (19"L x 9"W x 5"H) with manufacturer's printed metal plate and a printed paper label with model and serial number.
Includes: striding level, screwdriver, and plumb bob, all original. Date of manufacture determined from serial number on the box. The number (125052) indicates it was manufactured in 1952.
