The area of Kushan Bactria which included Surkardarya, Stajikstan and Northern Afghanistan was renamed Tokharistan.  It was 1
st
mentioned in Chinese Buddhist texts in the 4
th
century but it is known that the Tokharoi existed since the 1
st
century and along with the Assianis, Passianis and Sakaraulis were instrumental in bringing down the Greco-Bactrian Kingdom around 175 AD.  They came under control of the Kushans and by the 5
th
century were controlled by the Xionites and I imagine that the Chaganian Kings were probably their puppets in the late 6
th
century.  They were conquered by the Sassanids and then fell to the Arabs and the Mongols.
